ABOUT:

The Dan Souvigny Organ Trio is making waves in the 2025 blues and jazz scene with its groove-driven blend of Chicago blues grit and modern jazz sophistication. Led by award-winning pianist and organist Dan Souvigny—also the keyboardist for blues legend Buddy Guy—the trio delivers high-energy performances built around the rich tones of the Hammond B3 organ.

A Hampshire, Illinois native and three-time World Championship Old Time Piano Playing Contest winner, Souvigny combines deep respect for tradition with a fresh, dynamic sound that’s captivating audiences at clubs, festivals, and stages across the Midwest and beyond.

Daniel Souvigny is an American blues and jazz pianist from Hampshire, Illinois. He won the Junior Division of the 2012, 2014, and 2015 World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest, as well as 1st place in the Illinois State Talent Competition. Souvigny has shared the stage with the likes of Billy Branch, Jeff Barnhart, and Marty Sammon (late keyboardist for Buddy Guy). As a teen, he around the country performing at Ragtime and Early Jazz festivals, as well as many prestigious jazz and blues clubs in Illinois. Souvigny also plays the violin, drums, and electric guitar.

In July of 2016, he studied classical piano for one month with one of the top professors in St. Petersburg, Russia.

He is a three-time Junior Champ of the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest in Peoria, Illinois. Also last year, he became the youngest to ever take a level of Second Place in the adult division of this competition, which is now held in Oxford, Mississippi. He also took the overwhelming vote of the audience and received First Place in the Cutting Contest in Oxford. Reviews from these festivals have described Daniel as “the new sensation who plays with power and surprising musicality” and “a whiz kid whose fingers fly across the keyboard.”

His first CD “Tearing’ Up the Keys” was released in 2013, and his new album “Possibilities” was released in 2015, featuring well-known jazz drummer Danny Coots.

Daniel Souvigny and his Organ Trio will be joined by acclaimed blues-rock guitarist Eric Gales who, like Daniel, was a musical child prodigy. Gales picked up the guitar at age four. His older siblings, Eugene and Manuel (Little Jimmy King), taught him songs and licks when he was young, in the style of Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, B.B. King and others.

A rule-breaking, genre-fusing force of nature, hailed by giants like Carlos Santana, Joe Bonamassa, Dave Navarro and Mark Tremonti as one of the best guitarists on the planet, you'll find the Memphis blues-rocker's thumbprint on everything from his Grammy-nominated solo catalogue to the soundtrack of director Ryan Coogler's smash-hit horror movie, Sinners.

Gales’ new album, LJK, is a tribute to his late brother Little Jimmy King (Manuel Gales), with contributions by Buddy Guy and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram.
